Our Story

Karen's Kreamery has been serving up tasty, flavorful ice cream combinations for over 15 years.

After working for several years in downtown Phoenix, AZ in the early 1990's, Karen noticed a lack of ice cream shops throughout the Valley of the Sun.
As a single parent at the time, she wanted to start her own business and be with her kids more.  

In June of 1996, she opened the first Karen's Kreamery right on the border of the City of Phoenix and the City of Avondale, Arizona, where with the help of her four daughters and her significant other, Joe Anaya, the ice cream shop became a flourishing family-run business.

After a five-year run at that location, Karen moved the cow decoration-covered shop to a very busy shopping center in the City of Surprise, the second-fastest growing municipality in the greater Phoenix metro area. Between 2000 and 2010, Surprise's population increased by 281%.
During that time, Karen began experimenting with flavor combinations and introducing new additions to the menu on a continual basis.

The City of Surprise built a brand new Baseball Stadium, which became the Spring Training home of the Kansas City Royals as well as the home of Karen's Kreamery's new ice cream karts, which sold a sampling of cold delectable delights on a hot summer day to venue visitors.

Expanding the use of the portable ice cream karts, Karens Kreamery ventured out to events covering the span of the Phoenix metro area and even to events throughout the State of Arizona and beyond. The ice cream karts could be found in Mesa, AZ where the Chicago Cubs spring training took place, to Barrett-Jackson, the world's greatest collector car auction in Scottsdale, AZ to one of the nation's largest New Year's Eve Block Parties in Tempe, AZ.

After 10 years with an ice cream shop in Surprise, AZ, she has shifted her business focus, relocating her creation headquarters back to the City of Avondale and expanded into wholesale offerings whilst continuing to serve her award-winning ice cream at various events all over the Phoenix metro area throughout the year.  

Karen's Kreamery now offers a full selection of options when it comes to catering and events with the availability of several ice cream karts, freezers and tabletop units to fit your personal and/or business gathering wishes.
